World Cancer Day: highlighting physical activity in the global fight against cancer 

Worldwide cases of cancer predicted to reach 21.7 million by 2030

Saturday 4 February 2017 – World Cancer Day: Geneva, Switzerland - Today, on World Cancer Day, millions are urged to get active to help combat one of the world’s most deadly diseases. Under the banner ‘We can. I can.’ the day will encourage people to be more active - in every sense - in the fight against a disease that, in less than two decades, will directly affect up to 21.7 million1 people per year.

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer wants Canadians to get off the bench and get involved in cancer control - This year the Partnership is using the power of sport to empower Canadians to pledge how ‘We Can. I Can.’ help reduce the burden of cancer

February 1, 2017 (Toronto) – On February 4, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (the Partnership) will once again join organizations across the globe to mark World Cancer Day. The Partnership will support the Union for International Cancer Control’s (UICC) global initiative “Support through Sport,” to harness the collective power of sport by encouraging fans, organizations and personalities from across the globe to use their voice show their commitment on World Cancer Day.

World Health Organization - Early cancer diagnosis saves lives, cuts treatment costs

3 February, 2017 ¦ GENEVA: New guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), launched ahead of World Cancer Day (4 February), aims to improve the chances of survival for people living with cancer by ensuring that health services can focus on diagnosing and treating the disease earlier.

The McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer will celebrate its fifth birthday on World Cancer Day, February 4. ‘We can. I can.' Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre can!

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 February 2017 – In conjunction with World Cancer Day 2017, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) is honoured to announce that it will be the venue of choice for the Union for International Cancer Control’s (UICC) World Cancer Congress 2018. Themed “Strengthen. Inspire. Deliver” and hosted by the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), the Congress will take place from 1 to 4 October 2018 and is expected to attract 3,000 cancer and health professionals from over 135 countries.

New guidance for bosses supporting employees with cancer announced ahead of World Cancer Day

A report which makes a number of recommendations for employers welcoming back staff who have battled cancer has been announced today to coincide with World Cancer Day. Academics from Loughborough University’s National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) were part of a team commissioned by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) which was asked to establish a ‘best practice’ for supporting workers who had received treatment for cancer.
