Cynthia’s life challenges didn’t begin with her cancer diagnosis.  In 2013, Cynthia was living and working in her hometown of Saskatoon, Canada when she learned she would be laid off from her job.  Despite the unwelcome surprise, Cynthia found her “silver lining” plan and decided to move to Italy to learn about the culture and study the language.  Cynthia had found her love for travel in Europe two years earlier during a business trip to Paris. In 2012, Cynthia made her first trip to Italy and instantly connected with the people and the culture. She knew that it was a place where she wanted to spend more time and it was perfect timing after losing her job.

Cynthia began writing a blog of her travel adventures to share with family and friends. She talked about the people she met, the places she visits, the food she ate and all the adventures she had living in a new country.  These topics continued,  yet in 2014, the subject soon transitioned. Cynthia started having health problems while living in Italy.  After months of doctors appointments and misdiagnoses in a medical system she was unfamiliar with, she flew home to Canada only to learn she had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Cynthia continued writing her blogs during this time and today shares them in "Sparkle On", her personal memoir. The name of the book is derived from her personal approach to life. "I love sparkles. I notice them everywhere...when sunlight shines on snowflakes on a very cold day...on spider webs...water drops...I see sparkles.  Sparkles make me smile and fill my heart with joy. It has led me to live by the theme of leave a little sparkle wherever you go. I creatively use sparkles to help me through life’s challenges.”

"Sparkle On"  is a collection of not only her personal blogs but also additional commentary that takes you her journey of ups and downs.  Her intimate, yet optimistic approach to her life's challenges are inspiring to the reader and gives you tools to find your own coping mechanisms.  For anyone looking for inner strength, "Sparkle On" will give you a creative approach to help find your own truth to staying positive.
