In January 2017, Ivan (aged 13) from Russia was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in which cancer starts in immune cells and is recognised as the fastest growing human tumor.
The tumor was discovered during appendicitis surgery, however due to the advanced stage of the disease Ukranian Doctors were unable to help.
The parents of Ivan quickly took to social media and within only two weeks, found the funding they needed for Ivan's treatment at the Dmitry Rogachev Center. Both Russian and Ukranian people helped to raise funds and an anonymous donor from Samara generously paid for the transport required between Dnepropetrovsk and Moscow.
Today, Ivan is in partial remission due to the tumor regressing dramtically and he is now able to stay at home and fulfill his duties at his local church as an altar server whilst receiving further treatment.
