Used Postage Stamp Appeal For Fundraising

Friends of Bone Cancer Research Trust need your help at any time. We are a group of people throughout the UK who are raising funds independently for this wonderful charity. Thank you to everyone who has helped us over the year.

We are appealing for your support by asking you to save your used, new and obsolete postage stamps from the UK and overseas, horizon labels and Royal Mail tracking labels, first day covers and collections, postcards etc and send to us at anytime. Every stamp sent to us will help to fund life-saving research into primary bone cancer. Postage stamps are used less and less so if more people know about our requirements, we will hopefully still raise enough money to find a cure for primary bone cancer. Why not get your school, church, business, social group or other community group involved? This is an ongoing appeal so stamps and so on can be sent at any time. We are desperate for supporters worldwide so please ask all your friends and family around the world to send us their used postage stamps! We are also in need of currency from overseas and obsolete UK notes and coins.

Our Facebook group is Friends Of BCRT – Postage Stamps & More! Stamp appeal updates will be added often. The address to send donations to is Friends Of BCRT, 20 Bowers Road, BENFLEET, Essex, England, SS7 5PZ or email charitystampappeal@gmail.com for more information.

Primary bone cancer can occur at any age, but affects mostly children, teenagers, young adults and the elderly. Every 10 minutes somewhere in the world someone is diagnosed with primary bone cancer. Collecting used stamps is a simple way to make a huge difference.

Thank you for your time.

L.E.A.D Half-Court for Hope

“If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.”

In the world of sports (basketball) we often celebrate the big wins, the incredible plays, and the highlight-reel moves. The League of Everest Academy Dads (LEAD) wants to shine a spotlight on something equally important: the power of determination, the strength of the human spirit, and the unwavering commitment to fight against a formidable opponent, cancer.

The LEAD basketball players have attempted to convert half-court shots throughout Season 5 to raise funds, raise awareness - to remind everyone that early detection, research, and support are vital in the fight against cancer. A converted half-court shot is rare and emblematic of the power of hope  and determination. Just as this shot defies the odds, so do countless cancer survivors who defy the odds every day.

Players and supporters have donated for every half-court shot converted and also given outright donations for the benefit of Bahay Aruga, A Free Halfway House for Pediatric Cancer Patients

On February 3, 2024, LEAD concludes the awareness campaign and fundraiser with a group half-court shooting to honor those who have battled this disease, those who continue to fight and those who have survived and won the battle.

Lucia has left the family, friends, and the whole community who are all empty. She also left a significant legacy, an organic farm that must find a way to continue its activity. It is important for the territory and the young generations who can take examples. The initiative aims to transmit to the family solidarity and trust to carry on the project of Lucia, but also of all those who remember her with love.

World Cancer day 2024 - Let's Talk About Black People and Cancer

In the UK we know that there are inequalities in outcomes when it comes to cancer care.  This is despite having a health service that is free at the point of access.  Health education and awareness is part of a multi-pronged approach to try and address these disparities.

For World Cancer Day 2024 our conference, entitled "Let’s Talk About Black People and Cancer," focuses on closing the gap in understanding and addressing cancer disparities. Our in person event will be held on February 3rd 2024 at Bush house, 30 Aldwych, London which is part of King's College London, Strand campus.

Through a series of interactive lectures we will cover, 'Big Picture Stuff,' including the importance of genetics, reasons for diverse outcomes as well as updates on the screening programs in the UK.  After a refreshment break we move on to 'The Big Five,'  which delves into specific cancers: Breast, Prostate, Gynaecological, Bowel, and blood malignancies. We are pleased to have distinguished speakers who are all leaders in championing awareness in their respective field. The event aims to enhance awareness, discuss disparities, and promote dialogue and we hope to see you there.

In-person tickets sold out.
