March 4, 2019, will be one year that the sweetest little angel was called to heaven. Her name is Lillian Paige Armbruster. Lillian was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma when she was less than a year old. She and her family fought this deadly, harsh disease for 4 years with dignity, love, spirit for life and HOPE. HOPE for a cure. HOPE that another child would no longer have to have treatment regimen intended for an adult using drugs that towards the end of Lillian's life were experimental and less than humane. Lillian was full of life even when she was not feeling well. She would be out on her scooter, running up and down the street, wanting to swing in my backyard swing, even on her bad days. She spread sunshine and laughter everywhere she went.
I miss her voice. I miss her giggles. I miss her calling my name from their garage across the street.
Less than 4% of US total funding for Cancer is dedicated to Childhood Cancer every year. 4%!! Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in the US.
Not all cancer is pink, Until you see Childhood cancer first hand, you will never know how brutal it really is. Sometimes, REAL superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big battles.
