Hello everybody, my name is Nadine. I'm 61, I'm French and I live in one of Paris' suburbs. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. The tumor was removed and I got the usual treatment : chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormonotherapy.

At that time, I felt this cancer was a warning my body had sent me : "you don't care of yourself enough and I can't bear that anymore". So, after my treatments, I decided to have a healthier life: more exercise, better diet, less stress. I thought cancer was behind me, that everything was well.

But in 2014, metastasis were discovered in my peritoneum and the surgeon had to create an ileostomy in order to treat the tumours.

Since then, I've been under treatment; first chemotherapy and then, when metastasis appeared in my bones, targeted therapy. During that time, there were moments so painful and I was so sick and tired that I thought I was going to die. But I had my family to help me overcome the problems and fight. And the medicine was effective, the metastasis were kept under control …. Until a few days ago, when they came back to my bones.

I knew it would happen one day as metastatic cancer can't be cured yet. It can only be treated so that it doesn't spread. But it was quite a shock.

Whatever happens now, I will do my best to keep on living, I still have so many things to do and see. I have 3 sons and 2 grandsons, I want to see them grow up. And I have created a talking group for cancer patients and their families and they need me.

So, I'm sure I will still be with you next year to share my story again.

Merry Christmas everybody!
