Art Therapy for Breast Cancer Fighters

Details
Date: 26th of January, 2025
Participants: Breast Cancer Fighters
Baheya's art therapy sessions provide a safe space for breast cancer fighters to explore the emotional terrain of their journey. Guided by a volunteer skilled art therapist, participants used color, symbols, and creative expression to delve into their feelings before diagnosis, the shock of diagnosis, the challenges of treatment, and the hopes for the future. Through group discussions with the therapist, participants gained deeper insights into their emotional experiences allowing them to process their fears, anxieties, and hopes related to their cancer journey, fostering a sense of emotional release and healing.
Art Therapy sessions help cancer patients by:
Providing a non-verbal way to explore and express the complex emotions that often accompany a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment including feelings of fear, anger, sadness, isolation, and body image concerns.
Providing a sense of connection with others who are going through similar experiences.
Increasing self-discovery, helping the fighters to gain a deeper understanding of their own thoughts, feelings, and needs.
Creating art can be a relaxing and meditative experience, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.
