CARE WHEELS: Free Rides for Cancer Patients in Abuja

Details
As part of our commitment to improving cancer care and support, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF) planned to launch the “Care Wheels” initiative on World Cancer Day 2024. This project provides free transportation for cancer patients within the Abuja metropolitan area, ensuring they can access treatment centers without the burden of transportation costs.
For many cancer patients, the financial and logistical challenges of getting to hospitals for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and follow-up appointments can be overwhelming. “Care Wheels” addresses this barrier by offering safe, reliable, and comfortable rides to and from treatment centers at no cost within Abuja.
By reducing missed appointments and easing the stress of transportation, this initiative enhances treatment adherence, improves patient outcomes, and reinforces MCF’s commitment to providing holistic cancer support. “Care Wheels” is more than just a transport service—it is a lifeline for patients, ensuring that access to treatment is never hindered by lack of mobility.
This project aligns with the Medicaid Cancer Foundation’s broader mission of improving cancer care accessibility, supporting early detection, and advocating for equitable healthcare solutions in Nigeria.
