In recognition of Cancer Awareness Week, a comprehensive breast cancer screening campaign was launched through the joint efforts of the Mashhad Cancer Charity Association (MCCA), the Women’s Health Foundation (SEPAND), and Mashhad Healthcare Facility No. 1. This initiative was carried out at the Razavieh Tous Rehabilitation Center, a facility dedicated to supporting patients suffering from chronic neurological and psychiatric conditions.

As part of this collaborative effort, the Reza Radiotherapy and Oncology Center (RROC), in partnership with SEPAND and Healthcare Facility No. 1, mobilized a specialized team of midwifery professionals to conduct thorough screenings at the Razavieh Tous Center. This campaign aimed to raise awareness, promote early detection, and offer vital preventative care to a particularly vulnerable population that often lacks access to routine medical evaluations.

A total of 210 female residents at the center were clinically examined during this initiative. Alarmingly, for the vast majority of these women—most of whom are over the age of 40—this marked their first-ever breast examination. The screening revealed some individuals with palpable masses or other suspicious signs, warranting further diagnostic follow-up.

In addition to the screenings for residents, a comprehensive educational session was organized for the center’s staff, focusing on the importance of regular screening and early detection in cancer care. Staff members also received individual clinical assessments, and several were identified as needing further evaluation for possible health concerns.

This impactful initiative not only underscored the urgent need for accessible preventative healthcare among underserved populations but also demonstrated the effectiveness of multi-institutional collaboration in delivering meaningful, life-saving services. The active involvement of medical professionals, nonprofit organizations, and public health institutions made this campaign a model for community-based healthcare interventions.
