Interns @ Cancer Elimination - ICE.

Interns’ agenda Activities planed: Medical interns can play a crucial role in cervical cancer screening by increasing awareness, participating in screening programs, and providing education to patients. Their involvement can range from assisting with Pap tests and HPV testing to educating women about the importance of regular screening. Interns' Role in Cervical Cancer Screening: • 1. Increasing Awareness: Medical interns can participate in awareness campaigns to educate the public about cervical cancer, its prevention, and the importance of regular screening. • 2. Assisting with Screening: Interns can assist in conducting Pap tests and HPV testing, which are the primary methods for cervical cancer screening. 3.Providing Education: Interns can educate women about the screening process, including what to expect during a Pap test or HPV test, and the importance of follow-up if abnormalities are detected. 4.Promoting HPV Vaccination: Interns can play a role in promoting HPV vaccination, which is a key preventive measure for cervical cancer. 5.Participating in Research: Interns can participate in research studies related to cervical cancer screening, contributing to the development of new and improved screening methods. 6.Addressing Barriers: Interns can help identify and address barriers to cervical cancer screening, such as lack of awareness, cultural beliefs, or logistical challenges. 7.Improving Access to Care: Interns can work to improve access to cervical cancer screening services, particularly in underserved communities. Special tasks: 8.Specific Activities: a. Conducting Pap tests: Pap tests are a common screening method where cells from the cervix are collected and examined for abnormalities. b. Performing HPV test :HPV testing involves checking for the presence of high-risk HPV types, which are a major cause of cervical cancer. c.Providing education on screening guidelines: Interns can educate women on recommended screening intervals (e.g., every 3-5 years for women aged 30-60). d. Counseling on risk factors: Interns can educate women about risk factors for cervical cancer, such as HPV infection, smoking, and multiple sexual partners. e. Referring patients for further evaluation: Interns can refer women with abnormal screening results for further evaluation, such as colposcopy, biopsy and Pre cancer Treatment.
