In the recent years, the burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) has increased dramatically, accounting for 63% of all deaths in the country. In India, National Health Mission, has introduced current operational guidelines of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), 2023 - 2030. Under this programme, Population Based Screening (PBS) is to be conducted for individuals above 30 years of age for five common NCDs, which include common cancers (Oral Cavity, Breast and Uterine Cervical cancer) and Diabetes and Hypertension.

Under this initiative, Tata Memorial Hospital will act as resource partner for capacity building of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) health care staff for awareness and screening of common cancers along with capacity building for Tobacco Control and Cessation.
