Merck in Spain joins the global awareness campaign United By Unique, led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), under the claim “United by uniqueness: stories that inspire”.

Throughout 2025 the company is creating and sharing a series of videos on social media and its website to shine a light on the unique stories behind each diagnosis: each story reflects that every patient has unique needs and deserves a personalised approach. Because cancer affects millions of lives and behind every diagnosis, there’s a human story. Patients, families, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers... each person experiences cancer differently. But all are united by their uniqueness (#UnitedByUnique). At Merck, we believe these stories deserve to be heard.

Our purpose as a science and technology company is to positively impact people's lives. Through innovation, we develop therapies capable of addressing different types of diseases, such as cancer. Thanks to our experience and knowledge in cancer treatment, we know that behind every diagnosis there is a unique story that deserves to be heard and made visible. 

This is a key concept that entails the humanization of clinical practice and puts into focus the need to attend to the patient's particularities from a broad point of view, considering their needs (emotional, physical, priorities, etc.) and not only the treatment of the disease.

The videos will summarize the story of people around four types of cancer: colorectal, bladder, lung, and head and neck. Through visual pieces, we share real voices and authentic perspectives from:

-Healthcare professionals: highlighting the dedication of those on the front lines of cancer care.

-Patients: sharing their powerful stories.

-Caregivers: reflecting the support of those who walk alongside their loved ones.

-Merck employees: showing how our team contributes to improving the lives of people affected by cancer.

Furthermore, we have collaborated with key influencers in Spain for disseminating the content and reaching a wider audience.
