Dr PUSHKAL, India

Here I am with my story of war with the deadly enemy of us the ladies.
I am a homemaker aged 60 years. It’s the time when I was enjoying my daughter’s pregnancy courtship Feb 2021.
I was living my best life with my husband and getting ready to welcome my grand child.
One day I got slight pain on my left side of chest but ignored considered may be its due to gas or something. Again felt after some weeks and told my daughter she suggested to inform my regular doctor and done the same and got prescribed some medicine but haven’t got much relief.
After a month, again felt the same then my daughter forced me to consult her gynaecologist thinking of any common lump or cyst as she also belongs to medical profession.
I rushed to meet my gynaecologist then to my sonologist. She suggested me few test and entire sense of stability and happiness suddenly crashed as she told me the test reports suggests that I have developed breast cancer though the stage was very early. She also advised to meet Dr Pushkal Dwivedi who is renowned oncologist at our place.
We consulted him. He immediately recommended a referral to more specialised hospital for more advanced treatment i.e. Kokila Ben Hospital at Mumbai and to meet Dr Mandar Nadkarni there.
After every minor consultation we rushed to Mumbai and there its confirmed that I have breast cancer at my left side. My oncologist surgeon Dr. Mandar Nadkarni who has exceptional skills and full of compassionate care suggested me the best available treatment for breast cancer. Also I was told that its so tiny and get cured with minor surgery followed by exercise.
We got some relief after listening and felt so lucky as its small and diagnosed so early. But its not enough, our long journey is still waiting for us.
Seeing every steps my heart shank and always a question arise “ WHY ME , WHY IT HAPPENED”. But the unwavering support and the limitless love, my family showed me caused me to muster up all the courage I needed to sail this storm. I fought, I won, I’m thriving. Cancer may have shaken me, but it didn’t break me.
Worst part is I am fighting with all my courage with this and also binding up myself as I am not available for my daughters last months of pregnancy. Being a mother it’s more difficult…But with grace of God surgery went well and I welcomed by granddaughter with all my heart.
I went through all the suggested chemotherapy and radiotherapy rounds and my body showed excellent results as there was no trace of cancer left. The doctors told me I would be kept on my maintenance dose followed by routine exercise . I was doing well and recovering from my disease pretty good. Sometimes I felt like giving up but then seeing my doctor’s immediate response and efforts make me more strong. Till now in this voyage, my local oncologist Dr PUSHKAL DWIVEDI played a significant role in my journey of battling this ailment by not only deciding the right course of action for my treatment but he has always been a great emotional and mental support for me as his care meets compassion. Totally agree with this quote: “A doctor’s perseverance can be a powerful force of healing”
