Person living with cancer

Esraa, Egypt

Given my young age, the diagnosis of my illness was a significant shock to me and those around me. I felt helpless and overwhelmed by the unknown.

My name is Esraa, and I am 25 years old. My journey with breast cancer began last year, and I am still navigating this path.

Unfortunately, my mother has passed away, so the maternal support and comfort that a daughter needs in such circumstances is absent. However, I am grateful that God has compensated me with my aunt, her daughter, and my friends, who have been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout my treatment.

Over time, my mental state has improved, and I have come to believe that my illness is a test from God. I often tell myself that I am strong and that I will overcome this challenge. If God has placed me in this situation, then He is capable of helping me through it, and that cancer could be the beginning of a new life for me.

Unfortunately, I had planned my life differently, but these plans have changed since my diagnosis. Nevertheless, I am content and patient, and I am living my life as normally as possible. I do not allow this ordeal to affect me.

I am currently undergoing chemo at Baheya Hospitals and Centers, and a total mastectomy is scheduled after that. The psychological support team here provides me with immense support, and I never feel alone; they are always by my side, along with the medical team who accompany me every step of the way.

To every woman facing breast cancer, I urge you: Don't let this disease define you or diminish your life. Focus on yourself, continue living as fully as possible, and never surrender to it.
