A lump on the neck, discovered by chance, turns Georgi’s life upside down. He hears the diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) at just 41 years old. From the shock of the word “leukemia” and its association with a death sentence, to the realization that CLL is not an aggressive disease and that, with proper monitoring and treatment, a person can live a long and fulfilling life.

Together with Dr. Vera Stoeva, a hematology specialist at the National Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Hematological Diseases (NSBALTHD – Sofia), the video breaks one of the biggest myths – CLL is not acute leukemia, but a different, chronic disease in which chemotherapy takes a back seat. Modern therapies offer a real chance for a good quality of life, without others seeing “a cancer patient.”

This is a story not only about the disease, but about trust between doctor and patient, about changing habits, about balancing work and life, and about choosing to help others after you yourself have gone through the difficult path. Because CLL is not a sentence – it is a reason to live more consciously, here and now.
