You are not alone
Person with a lived experience of cancer

Gulnaz, Pakistan

Cancer turned my world upside down. This photo was taken a day before my breast cancer diagnosis, with my 2.5-year-old daughter. We were brushing our teeth, getting ready for bed, completely unaware of the storm ahead. My lumpectomy was done, and I felt somewhat reassured, waiting for the results. But everything changed the next morning.

At 9 AM, I heard the words Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Confused and terrified, I turned to family, friends, and even Google, only to be hit with the harsh reality. I broke down with my little girl by my side, consumed by fear of the unknown.

Sharing the news with my father was one of the hardest moments, but his strength carried me. He said, "It’s just a piece of paper," reminding me to hold onto hope. Along with my father, my mother, sister, and daughter became my pillars of strength. Their unwavering love and belief in me gave me the courage to face every challenge head-on.

Over the past ten years, I’ve faced immense trials, but I’ve also discovered resilience I never knew I had. My daughter has been my anchor, my reason to keep fighting. Her love, along with the steadfast support of my family, carried me through the darkest days of chemotherapy and uncertainty.

As I look back, I’m filled with gratitude, for every moment, every challenge, and every triumph that shaped me into the woman I am today. Cancer didn’t just affect me; it touched everyone I love.

Let’s cherish life, support one another, and never lose hope. Please keep us in your prayers, and may no one ever face the fear and pain of cancer alone. Life is a precious gift, hold it close.
