You are not alone
Person with a lived experience of cancer

Indah M, Indonesia

I am a metastatic Ewing sarcoma fighter and survivor with multiple relapses.

For 15 years, cancer has been part of my life. My journey has been marked by repeated treatments, multiple relapses, and more than 30 surgeries. My body is no longer the same—one of my legs is shorter, and my heart function is around 20%. Daily life comes with limitations I never imagined before my diagnosis.

There were moments when survival felt uncertain. I lived with a chronic wound for eight years, a wound that nearly took my life. Fear, pain, and exhaustion became part of my everyday reality.

But cancer taught me something profound.

Surviving cancer is not about being fearless. I am still afraid. I still struggle. But I choose to keep going.

Today, I am not fully healed, and my journey is far from over. Yet I am deeply grateful to still be here—to breathe, to smile, to share, and to find meaning in life despite uncertainty.

On this World Cancer Day, I share my story as a reminder that even in the longest and hardest journeys, hope matters—and no one should face cancer alone.
