I’d like to take this opportunity to share the importance of annual screenings. In 2001, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer that was in my cervix and uterus. It was fast-growing, but because I faithfully kept my Gyn appointments, it was caught early enough that I only required a hysterectomy and no additional treatment. In 2021, a malignant lump was found in my left breast. I have annual mammograms so it was at stage 2 when it was found. In addition to surgery, I had 6 weeks of radiation. 2024 was the first year that didn’t require a needle biopsy. Long story short … while paps and mammograms aren’t comfortable, they’re SO important! You’re female parts will thank you!
