The first signs that made me feel like something was wrong was when I started to feel tired and sick more usually than normal. I got my diagnosis by seeing an oncology doctor. It made me feel scared and confused.Yes my background, concerns and personal situation were taken into account
My biggest Challenges with cancer were all of the following Emotional toll, Financial stress and Navigating the healthcare system
What got me through was a person, resources, and a community. What supported my mental, emotional and physical well being was being able to share my experiences and my story and connections with others who had similar experiences with cancer
Yes I felt like I was heard and respected and included in decisions about my care. Everything went well. My doctor is very caring when it comes to listening to me about any questions or concerns that I may have about my care.
What i would say to someone facing cancer is to always try to get the best care possible and that it is important to have some type of support. It may feel like you’re alone in this fight but you are not alone. What should change to make cancer care more compassionate, inclusive and truly centered on people’s lives is that there should be more laws passed to make cancer more accessible and affordable and more resources to help people with cancer for Medication, living expenses, treatment and transportation i think that there should be new resources available every year to help those struggling with cancer m.
