Supporter or otherwise affected by cancer

Katherine, Ireland

Hello!

My name is Katherine Gordon, and I would like to share my cancer story with you.  A story that would change the course of my life.

In January 2016, I discovered a slight change in one of my breasts.

After my first ever mammogram which took place five days later, and the return of its results, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Chemotherapy started almost immediately, and after my mastectomy that June, my cancer diagnosis flipped to become HER 2 Positive breast cancer which resulted in additional treatment being required.   My wellbeing took a serious nose dive, and for three years post treatment, I struggled to return to full health.  My body was in shock from not only from what caused the illness, but from the illness itself, and its treatment.  I had to take action to save myself from further ill health.  And, that is what I did.

For the past number of years, I have researched; the miraculous power of healing foods, the correct way on how, and when, to eat and drink, why hydration is important, the benefits of juicing, the need to cleanse your liver, to look after your mindset, and to delve into your beliefs.  I applied these findings to my own health, and while it took some time, I gradually began to feel its benefits on my health.

It is now nine years since my diagnosis, and I am eight and a half years in remission!  I am fit, healthy, and medication free, and please God, I will remain that way.

The second photograph that I have included with my bio is that of me taking a seaweed bath in July 2017 in the Wild Atlantic Way.  Seaweed helped me to heal my physical wellbeing, as well as that of my emotional, transporting me back in time to that of my great aunt who thrived on seaweed, raw garlic, raw onions, boiled cabbage water, and other sea foods like that of raw periwinkles which she picked and ate as she walked along the shore!  All while living in Co. Sligo throughout the 1900s and surviving the Spanish Flu. She lived to be a few months shy of 100.  So, there's hope for me!

In May 2024, I setup a wellbeing community and called it 'Well, Hello Katie!™   This provides guidance to ladies recovering from illness and for those going through the menopause. The sole aim is to help ladies restore their health to one that is symptom free and filled with vibrancy.  All while working with their medical practitioner.

I whole heartedly feel that it is time we take charge of our health and equip ourselves with the know-how of what to do, and when, so that we can live a full life beyond that of a cancer diagnosis ... And, to live without fear

We are all amazing, and with strength and resilience, we will overcome this.
