We are United by Unique

My piece embodies what United by Unique, the new theme of World Cancer Day, means to me. It highlights the importance of placing people at the heart of cancer care—a sentiment beautifully captured by the WCD logo: a person embracing the world, or perhaps a person standing at the centre of it.
Using my fingerprints, I filled the space around "the person" with a spectrum of emotions—feelings that I imagine someone on a cancer journey might experience. As someone who lives my life in two languages, English and Spanish, I wanted to reflect that duality in the chosen words and colours of the fingerprints.
Cancer has profoundly shaped my life, both through my work and through the personal impact it has had on my family. This experience drives my belief that we must create awareness and advocate for health systems that prioritise people above all else.
We are United by Unique.
