Nurlina, Indonesia
My name is Nurlina Subair — a two-time breast cancer survivor.
I was first diagnosed while pursuing my Ph.D., and ten years later, cancer returned when I had become a professor.
Twice cancer tried to stop me.
Twice, I chose to rise.
Today, wearing this traditional Palembang attire, I celebrate the uniqueness of my journey.
Because I believe that our differences are our strength, and every story holds the power to inspire.
From this journey, I founded the Makassar Cancer Care Community (MC3) —
a space where survivors support each other, rebuild courage, and share hope.
Cancer once tried to break me,
but instead, it took me across Indonesia and around the world
to educate, to motivate, and to lift others.
I am Nurlina.
My uniqueness is my strength—
not to stop, but to lift and empower others.
