Person with a lived experience of cancer

Paul, United Kingdom

I have taken my diagnosis a day at a time. The hospital has been unbelievable, I have been admitted to Leeds Hospital and the service was amazing. I have also had fantastic experience with the local district nurses which were imperative when I came out of hospital. It is important that staff communicate well (the good and bad news) but it's important the delivery of the news is compassionate. I was admitted to intensive care and this was hard on my loved ones but the care I received made the process so much easier. My wife was given daily updates when in intensive care and kept up to date with my progress, this made it easier. A good cry can help process what's happening.
