Today 4th February, 2026 is a world cancer day. The World Cancer Day campaign 2025-27 “United by Unique” places people at the centre of care and explores new ways of making a difference. It offers a three-year journey from raising awareness to taking action.
We people always hear some sentences often like "Prevention is better than cure" or "Health is Wealth" or
"Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah।
Sarve Santu Nir-Aamayaah।
Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu।
Maa Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet॥
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih॥" Translation : May All Be Prosperous and Happy
May All Be Free from Illness
May All See What Is Spiritually Uplifting, May No One Suffer In Any Way.
Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
But for these sentences becomes true blessings for one and all, people engaged in health care treatment have to become more sincere and alert with the academic knowledge they have gained during their MBBS or M.D. physician or super speciality certification. I am regretfully saying this with my family's personal suffering experience. Ovarian cancer is very dangerous illness in females because it is very hard to diagnose it in early stage. Initial symptoms of ovarian cancer are mostly similar to stomach upset, blotting, vomiting etc. So patient would consult any physician or Gastroenterologist for such symptoms. We had also consulted Gastroenterologist but a Doctor in that hospital failed in proper diagnosing for 25 to 30 days of initial treatment. He had done internal tests for stomach and intestine too instead of Abdomen and pelvis ultrasounds sonography and simple blood test CA125.
Hence even after visiting several times in emergency of that super speciality hospital, patient's illness worsened. After that almost a delayed 30 days of initial period, a senior Gastroenterologist in that hospital advised for Abdomen and pelvis ultrasounds sonography. This report of sonography and then after CT scan report it was diagnosed Ovarian cancer stage 3. Surgery done at Mumbai hospital, followed by chemotherapy cycles. But regret the patient expired in two years of diagnosis of Ovarian cancer stage 3 due to intestine obstruction which resulted in her strength and hemoglobin down, later infection in body with sepsis.
Healthcare expert, physician and super speciality doctors including cancer surgeon and oncologist would understand my concern and see that National Medical Council of India act on such issues immediately and add lessons of medical chapters in all medical colleges / universities to thoroughly teach medical students about such diagnosis errors and how to avoid such mistakes in primary checkup of any patient. Medical students must be knowing all the symptoms which are similar in more than two illnesses and patients with such similar types of symptoms must be diagnosed seriously with all the available technical options including ultrasound, CT scan, Petscan, angiography, X-ray or MRI and pecific blood test etc.
God bless all with good health and happiness.
