Hello, I hope you are all doing well.
I am Shukrije Shaboni from Mitrovica. I am 62 years old. In the year 2000, I noticed a lump in my arm, but I didn’t know what it was. In my family, no one had cancer, so I didn’t think much of it. My daughter-in-law and daughter urged me to get checked, so I went for a check-up at the hospital in Mitrovica. They told me I needed to see a doctor in Pristina, but I had no idea what was going on or where I was going.
When I went to Pristina to see Dr. Avni Behluli, he advised me to do a biopsy. After the results came in, I found out that it was breast cancer, and I was in the third stage. When I realized the severity of my illness, I turned to God and said, "Oh Allah, you have sent me this, please help me overcome it."
I started chemotherapy, and I went through 4 sessions. They made me very weak, and I had constant vomiting, but I managed to get through it, even though it was tough and exhausting. After that, I had surgery, which lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. I passed through it well. I continued with 4 more chemotherapy sessions, which drained me even more, but with the help of Allah, the doctors, and my family, who never left my side, I managed.
I also went through 25 sessions of radiotherapy. During the hot summer, I had to travel between Mitrovica and Pristina. It was hard, but I endured. Now, four years later, my hand still hurts a lot, but I believe it will pass.
I pray that all of you will overcome this challenge as well. I wish you all the best.
With love,
Shukrija
