My cancer was Endometrial that spread to my right ovary at the age of 25 back in 2020. I was the youngest person in Northern Ireland with that type of cancer. I was in Asda shopping and took an awful pain in my right side, not known what it was I carried on shopping again another real bad pain kicked in so I went to Craigavon area hospital to get checked over not known what would come of it. So my iron levels were quite low which resulted in me needing a few blood transfusions and an iron infusion. I was kept in Craigavon area hospital for 9 days where on the 9th day I was Brought to a side room and told I had 2 Gallstones, a kidney stone and cancer.
The biggest challenge for me was that my Cancer Diagnosis and treatment all revoled around COVID, so I couldn't have my family sat with me during my treatment. I found this really hard especially for my Mum who came down with me and sat in the waiting room for my chemotherapy, Bracky and Radiotherapy But especially my chemo which lasted hours every 3 weeks.
What helped me the most was my Family, my Fiance, his 2 beautiful girls, his Family all our Friends and my Neighbours. They were all amazing and helped me throughout all my cancer journey. I had a very strong mindset as well that I was going to beat it and that I had to. I had so much to live for and so much I still wanted to do in life.
I felt the healthcare system done their best for everyone. COVID was a scary time and the reassurance that I received and the care was amazing. They were the most helpful.
You aren't alone there's so many resources and people out their to help and to listen to no matter of your cancer diagnosis. I've also messaged a few on tik tok or the facebook group I'm on with advice and help for surgery and after. Just a voice that's been through it and someone for them to speak that understands it. Together we will beat cancer.
