This was a university self portrait I did after surgery and at the beginning of chemo before hair loss and radiation . The animal next to me was meant to symbolize positive transformation but in as a contrast to the bruises on my legs from injections for low white blood cells. Being a full time art student through treatment which I was advised against , actually helped me get through the trauma of being sick . It was only a layer that it all hit home without the distractions and getting back into work . It was terribly difficult as an actor to remember my lines , the fatigue was long- lasting and fear still lingers . Art is a way for me to process things and stay in the moment so that I can appreciate my health today .
