Caregiver, family or friend

Yuri, United Arab Emirates

Hi, I'm Yuri, an HS student currently working towards her dream of becoming an oncologist for those in need.

The reason I want to be an oncologist is because of someone very dear to me who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Since it was a very sad reason (this year), I'm still trying to overcome the news. She was a very special person in my life. Since birth, she has sent me handmade gifts, expensive items, cards, and all the love I could ever ask for.

I feel that her constant determination, positive attitude, and assertiveness are her strengths in this difficult time. She's a very strong woman, one of the strongest I know of, and her overwhelming amount of love never ceases to amaze me.

The most challenging moment was when the doctor broke the news to her. She was feeling a bit sick for a few weeks, so she went to see a doctor. They did a bunch of screenings and found out she had cancer. It was very difficult to absorb all of the information all at once, especially for my other family members and her friends. However, we'll always be supportive of her, no matter what we are all going through.

I feel her best qualities in this situation were her resilience, courage, and acceptance. She was a very patient woman, and she is also very courageous in many pursuits. Although overcome with grief and shock, she accepted the sickness even though it was very painful to hear.

Godmother, I will always love you no matter what.
